Connect Tableau to a Tab Delimiter Text File

This article shows how to connect with the Tab delimiter text file, load its data into the Tableau desktop, and design a chart. The third image on this page shows that each column is separated by tab space.

Clicking on the text file option will open the window to choose the Tab delimiter file.

Choose the File from hard drive

As you can see, the Tableau desktop loaded the file and automatically separated the columns using a Tab delimiter. For more Data Sources >> Click Here.

If this is not the case, click the down arrow beside the Employee Tab Delimiter file, and choose the Text File Properties.. option.

By default, the desktop has chosen Tab as the Field separator. If not, it has chosen a comma; the data is shown below. Please change the Field Separator to Tab from the list of available separators.

Change the Wrong Field Separator to Tab Delimiter

Drag Education to Columns and Income to Rows shelf. Next, add the Education dimension to the Color shelf and Income to the Label. For more Charts >> Click Here.
