Upload File to SSRS Report Manager

The SQL Server Report Manager is the place where all our Deployed Reports, Data Sources, Datasets placed. SSRS Report manager provides an option called Upload File, and you can use this option to upload any file to the report manager.

We had already explained the steps involved in Deploying reports to Report Manager using this option to Deploy Reports using Report Manager article. In this article, we will show you how to upload the file to the SSRS Report manager with an example.

Before we start deploying reports in SSRS, Let me open my Report Manager to show the existing Data Sources, Datasets, and reports in our server.

In this example, we will upload different kinds of files to the report manager, which includes: Text file, Pdf file, and an Image.

To upload files to the Report Manager, Please click on the Upload File Menu item. By clicking that, it will open the following page. You can use this page to upload .rdl, .smdl, Shared datasets, Report Parts into the report manager.

By clicking the Browse button, it will open the local file system to select the required file. As you can see we are choosing the Employee text file present in the D Drive -> Logos folder

Click OK to upload the text file to SSRS Report manager

Now you can see the uploaded text file in the Report Manager Home page.

Please click on the text file to see the data inside the text file

Upload PDF to SSRS Report Manager

By clicking the Browse button, it opens the local hard drive to select the required file. As you can see, we are choosing the Area Chart pdf file present in the D Drive -> Logos folder. Once you complete, Please Click OK button to upload the PDF file

Now you can see the uploaded PDF file inside the Report Manager Home page. Please click on the PDF file to see the data inside that PDF file

From the below screenshot, you can see that the report manager is displaying the PDF file that we uploaded.

Upload Images to SSRS Report Manager

By clicking the Browse button on the Upload File page opens the local file system to select the required file. Here, we chose the Home Page png file present in the D Drive -> Logos folder. Once complete, Click the OK button to upload the PNG file

Now you can see the uploaded Image file inside the SSRS Report Manager Home page. Please click on the Image file (.png) to view the image

As you can from the below screenshot, the SSRS report manager is displaying the image that we uploaded.
