SSRS CDbl Function

The SSRS CDbl function is a Conversion function that will convert the given field or expression to a double. The syntax of the CDbl function for converting to double is as shown below.

CDbl(Fields!Income.Value)
CDbl(100.67)

To demonstrate the CDbl function in reporting services, we use the Employee table below, which has 20 records. The image shows the records in the Table report.

For this, let me add a new column to the right side of the Income column. Next, right-click the textbox under the CDbl Income and choose Expression to open the expression window below. The CDbl expression below will convert the YearlyIncome column values to double.

Similarly, let me create one more new column to convert the SalesAmount values to doubles. The SSRS CDbl Function expression to perform the same is as shown below.

=CDbl(Fields!SalesAmount.Value)

As it can hold big values, let me multiply the Sales by four. So, replace the above with the code below.

=CDbl(Fields!SalesAmount.Value * 4)
